MATTHEW LYONS
An Engineer and Professor of Acoustical Design
Matthew Lyons has been working in the consumer electronics business for the last 20 years. At his alma mater, Johns Hopkins, Matthew teaches the principles of audio and acoustics to the next generation of engineers.
Work History
Matthew began his career at Polk Audio as a loudspeaker engineer and product manager, then he worked for Adcom where he developed award-winning electronics. After leaving Adcom, Matthew started LyonSound, a design and engineering firm specializing in consumer electronics product design. Most recently LyonSound has expanded its design services to include home theater and acoustical engineering.
Teaching History
In addition to his engineering work, Matthew has been an adjunct faculty member at the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University for the last seventeen years. He teaches master's level courses in the audio engineering and acoustics.
Education
He graduated from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University with undergraduate degrees in music performance and recording engineering. Matthew also has a Master of Audio Sciences degree with a concentration in Acoustical Studies which he also received from The Johns Hopkins University.
Mission
Matthew started LyonSound to drive the state-of-the-art in audio and acoustical engineering using scientific measurements, subjective evaluation and design expertise.
